Class II surge protectors (SPD) are usually installed in small distribution boxes or equipment control cabinets. These devices provide a second level of protection in a third level surge protection design. Class II surge protectors must be able to protect equipment from the effects of surge voltages caused by indirect lightning strikes or switching operations.
